This Simple Marinara Sauce is easy, healthy, and so delicious! We have tried several Marinara recipes, but this one has been the best!
I love that it has the addition of nutritional yeast (optional, but adds great flavor and added health benefits)! It's also vegan-friendly. 🙂
My sister sent me a few photos of the delicious meals she has been incorporating it in. She says her kids are obsessed with it! They eat it as a dip for grilled cheese sandwiches or fried cheese sticks, and as soup with a bit of milk added in.
Ways to Use Simple Marinara Sauce
Here a couple of our favorite ways to use this Marinara Sauce, using The Best Baked Meatballs!
Baked Meatball Subs:
These Subs are perfect for a quick dinner! You can make the Baked Meatballs and Marinara ahead of time, and have these Baked Meatball Subs ready in under 10 minutes!
I've even made these using frozen Meatballs and Sauce (see freezing/re-heating instructions for meatballs and marinara sauce).
Here's How to Make Meatball Subs:
- Lightly butter the inside of the sandwich rolls.
- Sprinkle with garlic salt, then bake them in the oven at 425ºF for 4 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine some Marinara with some Meatballs. Remove the bread from the oven, and top with the meatballs mixture. (I used 4 meatballs per sandwich.)
- Top with shredded cheese blend of your choice (I used an Italian Cheese Blend).
- Return to the oven and bake another 5 minutes. Garnish with some fresh chopped parsley, and Enjoy!
Spaghetti & Meatballs:
Here's another quick and easy meal to make using the Baked Meatballs and Marinara Sauce.
Here's How to Make Spaghetti & Meatballs:
- Combine the Marinara Sauce with the Meatballs in a large bowl.
- Serve over spaghetti noodles, and top with parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. Enjoy!
How To Store Marinara Sauce:
Store any unused Marinara Sauce in a sealed container, and keep refrigerated. I like to make a double batch, and freeze some in plastic freezer bags.
To Freeze:
Laying them flat to freeze will take up less space in the freezer, and it allows them to thaw quicker.
To Thaw:
- Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then re-heat in the microwave, or a sauce-pan, until warmed through.
- Or, submerge the frozen bag in warm water for about 30 min-1 hour until thawed. Then re-heat in the microwave, or a sauce-pan, until warmed through.
Enjoy!
