Simple Marinara Sauce {Quick & Easy, Vegan Recipe}

This Simple Marinara Sauce is easy, healthy, and vegan! Try it in Spaghetti & Meatballs, Meatballs subs, pastas, or as a dip.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil (sub water if avoiding oil)
  • 3 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 28-ounce cans crushed tomatoes (I used Muir Glen fire roasted)
  • 4 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to spice level preference)

Instructions

  • Heat a large pot on medium heat, and add olive oil.
  • Saute the garlic for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients (except for the nutritional yeast).
  • Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered on medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and mix in the nutritional yeast (if using). Ready to serve! :)
